JANET LEE STEVENS

An American graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania (USA), Ms. Stevens was translating for Arab journalists when she was killed in the bombing. Family, friends, fellow students, and professors created an award and lecture series to honor her memory and spirit. The Award is called the Janet Lee Stevens Award for the Promotion of American-Arab Understanding. The purpose of the lecture is to break down stereotyping between Arabs and Americans as well as to promote understanding and tolerance.
